The off-axis guidance is an essential accessory for astrophotography with long focal length telescopes that require the most accurate guidance possible. Celestron's off-axis guidance uses a prism that intercepts a small portion of the telescope's focal plane (outside the field of view of the image acquisition camera) to locate a guide star. Any movement of the guide star will be reflected by the image capture camera.
