The cylindrical measuring accessory made of wood, steel or aluminum, which can be between 2 and 3 meters in length and which is painted in alternating stripes of white and red, is known as a topographic pole. As for its usefulness, this instrument has a metal tip to dig into the ground and thus be able to determine fixed points while making a ground plan.
