Coma is the aberration inherent in some optical systems with a wide spectral field, this aberration is due to defects of the lens itself. The coma corrector is a system that helps you correct these aberrations to obtain the sharpest image possible.
The coma is typical of those telescopes that use parabolic mirrors, among which we have the schmidt-cassegrain, maksutov and reflectors. When the light from a star does not hit the focal point directly (off-axis), the distorted star appears as a comma.
The coma corrector minimizes these aberrations and makes the observation of the deep sky clearer.
