The stereoscopic binocular loupe are binocular optical instruments (that is, to look using both eyes) with the peculiarity that they offer a 3D (or stereoscopic) image of the analyzed sample. This type of microscope is indicated for viewing biological or mineral samples, in which no detail is needed at the cellular level. The most frequent use is to identify plant or animal species through the detail of their parts or structures. It also has a very practical use in gemology, electronics and materials science.

They are used to having a basic magnification of 20-45x, with or without zoom and can use duplicating lenses to achieve up to 100X in the highest cases. There are different types of lighting depending on the sample to be observed, either incident or transmitted.
